last night we went to Ruperts. Ruperts has 25 cent wings, 2-for-1 $1.00 drafts, and $4.00 shots of Jack Daniels. we had one shot each of Jack Daniels and no wings. our bill was $17.00 and some odd change. we drank and equal number of beers. we number two. how many draft beers did i drink...more importantly, why can't i figure it out without squinting?

$17 + change - tax ~= $16 (assuming a reasonable tax rate)
$16 - 2($4) = $8 after the jacks.
if beer was (2 for $1) = ($.50 each) then there were ($8/$.50) = a total of 16 beers between the two of you for an average of 8 each.
